Here we are, 43 years later, and Camp Sunshine is still all about relationships. This was deeply felt this summer as we lived out our theme of We Belong. We made space for every person at Camp Sunshine to be seen and valued.

Camp Sunshine also gives participants a glimpse of a world that looks very different from what they encounter online, at school, or in their everyday communities. For four days, they live in a space defined by belonging, kindness, and genuine connection, and that experience often reshapes how they see and move through the world long after camp ends.

Summer camp is often a rite of passage for many young people. It is a place of transformation and character building. Camp Sunshine is no different, but is special for many other reasons.

Gestures of inclusiveness not rooted in friendship and community are what can appear empty or performative. Celebrate true inclusion daily!
