Volunteer Counselor Information
Will you join us as a volunteer counselor? Applications for 2026 volunteer counselors open on January 7, 2026. All volunteer applications (including for the counselor role) are now hosted by the Civic Champs platform. Counselors should be at least 17 years old by the first day of the sessions they serve at.

Sessions will take place at both of our camp locations:
Camp Henry in Newaygo
Session 1: May 30-June 2, 2026
Session 2: June 3-6, 2026
Camp Blodgett in West Olive
Session 1: June 22-25, 2026
Session 2: June 26-29, 2026
Registration
Registration opens in January.
Counselors should click here to create a profile on Civic Champs to apply for the counselor position.
First Time?
First-time counselors must have Three New Counselor Reference Forms turned in as soon as possible. References should be provided by someone outside of your family.
Share this link with the individuals who will be completing the reference for the counselor.
These forms are due April 1.
Central Registry
Download Central Registry Clearance form and fax, email, or mail in the required form to the LARA address or LARA email address provided in the center of the form (NOT the Camp Sunshine office or Camp Sunshine email). These forms are due by April 20 as they take 3-4 weeks to process. They are required annually.
