A Note from Kathy

Our overnight camp theme for 2023 was “Reflect and Expect,” and it became the perfect declaration for the entire year. It was a full year of celebration and reflection of our 40-year legacy, as well as a time to dream about our future.
 

We were able to REFLECT upon 40 years of Camp Sunshine and marvel at all that has become of our community. Camp Sunshine exists because of the willingness of our founding director, Marcy Vanderwel, to step up and create not just a summer camp for individuals with disabilities, but a space dedicated to inclusion. Marcy, and the leaders who have come after her, recognized that the way to inclusion is through creating space where relationships are built in joy, empowerment, and unity.
 

We EXPECT that the nurturing roots of the past will continue to sustain and encourage the future of Camp Sunshine. Thank you for your contribution in making Camp Sunshine the organization it is today. Let’s continue to Reflect and Expect together!
