VOLUNTEERS WELCOME!
Volunteers are at the heart of Camp Sunshine. At every event, you’ll be welcomed by a volunteer coordinator who is there to answer questions and help you feel confident in your role.
Your time and energy make it possible to create spaces of inclusion, joy, and belonging for our community. We hope that as you serve, you’ll also be enriched by the warmth of Camp Sunshine and be inspired to help us extend that spirit into the wider world.
There are many ways to get involved with Camp Sunshine, from summer camp sessions to year-round programs and fundraising events, each with varying time commitments to fit your schedule.
Whether you’re signing up as an individual, with your family, or as part of a corporate team, we’d love to have you join us! Day camp volunteer opportunities for fall 2025 are now open, and summer 2026 opportunities will be released in January. Simply click the sign-up button below to access our volunteer calendar, powered by Civic Champs. You’ll be prompted to create an account when registering.

Volunteers working directly with campers must complete a background check (included in the sign-up form).

All volunteers will sign a waiver through Civic Champs during registration.

Volunteers under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
VOLUNTEER AT CAMP
Come for a few hours in the morning, afternoon or evening to help support different areas of camp. From supporting counselors, to helping with activities, to covering cabins in the evening…every role is important! We'll have specific volunteer opportunities in these areas available for sign-up in January 2026.

Opening Day Volunteers: The first morning of camp is filled with celebrating and welcoming every camper that arrives and providing themed activities. Come help out with one of the activities or be part of the welcoming team!

Sunshine Subs: Come for a morning to be paired with a camper to give a counselor time to rest, shower or take a break. Subs are vital to counselors feeling supported!

Cabin Coverage: Calling all night owls! Come support cabins as campers settle in for the night to sleep and as counselors have their daily meeting.

Counselor Appreciation Volunteers: Each evening time is set aside for our overnight volunteers to enjoy an extra hearty treat and receive ongoing training and support. Volunteers are needed to either supply the meal (for 100 people) and/or serve counselors from 8-9:30pm.

Creative Expressions or Recreation Support: Support our leadership team in running the many activities at camp.

Licensed Medical Professionals: Whether it’s overseeing the check-in of camper medications, administering medications or generally caring for the needs of the camp community, the med team is a vital component of camp! Limited medical opportunities are available!

ASL interpreter: American Sign Language is used at all of our lessons, singing and group activities as well as to interact with our campers who are fluent in sign. They also assist in any non-verbal communication modes as needed.

Certified Lifeguards: Needed at the pool and beach fronts for afternoon swim time at Camp Blodgett only.
Our year round programming goes beyond just summer camp. Each year Camp Sunshine hosts a handful of events outside of summer camp. Each event is directed by staff but supported in different ways by volunteers. Volunteering at an event is a great way to engage and connect with the Camp community outside of our summer camp season. As of fall and winter 2025, we do not currently have open volunteer needs for day volunteers.
